Murderous Fairy Tale Shows Quality Production Saves Time in Compatibility – Case Study

The Background

Netease is one of China’s largest web companies. Known for it’s web search, news, and email services, it’s sometimes referred to as the “Yahoo of China”. With the growth in competition in RPGs on mobile, Netease’s gaming section decided to create an RPG that would appeal to more girl gamers.

“Murderous Fairy Tale” is a game where players can play as some of the most well known fairy tale heroines, fighting off evil in a fairy tale world. The game found great reception with women on iPhone and iPad with 35% of players being women.

The Problem

With the need to bring the game to the Android marketplaces quickly after the iOS version was released, there was a fear that the transfer from iOS would create huge issues and the quality would diminish from the wide variety of phones available in the Chinese marketplace. Netease is known for their high quality games and asked TestBird to test their game among the hundreds of devices that serve 95% of the market.

The Results

In less than three days, TestBird was able to score the game 90/100 with a highly compatible rating. The report helped show minor issues that wouldn’t effect their release. After the release on Android, The games popularity grew as players recommended the game to friends for it’s high quality and fun game play. After three days, Murderous Fairy Tale grew to the top 10 in the iOS marketplace.
